Walk-in COVID spring vaccination clinics in Leeds

Spring vaccinations and first and second vaccinations for all end on 30 June

A number of walk-in clinics for spring COVID vaccinations in Leeds are being offered over the next week. Spring vaccinations for those who are eligible end on 30 June.

The walk-in clinics are being held at the following times and locations:

  • Monday 19 June – Dewsbury Road Community Hub, 190 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6PF – from 9.30am to 3:30pm
  • Tuesday 20 June – Crossgates and Whinmoor Community Hub, Crossgates shopping centre, LS15 8EU – from 9.30am to 3.30pm
  • Wednesday 21 June – Woodsley Health Centre, LS6 1SG – from 1.15pm-4.15pm
  • Friday 23 June – The Old Fire Station, Gipton Approach, LS9 6NL – from 9.30am to 3.30pm
  • Monday 26 June – The Compton Centre, Harehills Lane, LS9 7BG – from 9.30am to 3.30pm

Spring vaccinations are being offered to those aged 75 and over, people aged 5 and over who have a weakened immune system and older adult care home residents.

This latest vaccination is being offered following advice from the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation.

Dr James Thomas, GP and Medical Director for the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, said:

“Our protection against COVID, from the vaccines or having had the virus, decreases over time so it’s especially important for some people to top up their defences. We may be learning to live with COVID, but it is still a serious threat which is continuing to cause severe illness and hospitalisation for thousands of people every week.

“If you are over 75 or you have a weakened immune system, please come along to one of the walk-in clinics in Leeds or book your COVID spring vaccination before 30 June, so you can enjoy the summer with the peace of mind that you’ve got the extra protection that you need.”

Up until 30 June 2023 anyone aged five or over can still get their first or second COVID vaccinations. After 30 June, first and second doses will only be available to those at increased risk and these will only be offered during seasonal campaigns.

Dr James Thomas said: “Getting your COVID vaccinations is the best way to ensure you are protected against the virus. COVID-19 is still with us and can cause serious illness. Anyone who contracts COVID is at risk of becoming unwell, especially those with existing health conditions, and having a COVID vaccination will increase your protection. We are urging everyone to have the jabs they need – whether that is the spring vaccination or the first and second doses – before 30 June.”

Anyone who believes they should be eligible for a vaccine but has not yet been invited can check online, or people can use the National Booking
Service
and then speak to a clinician on site. COVID vaccinations can be booked online, via the NHS App or  by calling 119.

Dr James Thomas concluded: “It’s quick and easy to get a COVID vaccination and it will make sure you are as protected as possible for the months ahead. Protect yourself and those around you have your vaccination before the end of June.”
